Rev Mark E Blue

Our Pastor

On November 27, 2001, Reverend Mark E. Blue accepted the call to serve as pastor of Second Baptist Church in Lackawanna, New York.

Rev. Blue joined the United States Air Force Reserve in 1983 and retired in 2003 with the rank of Master Sergeant. During his service, he was employed at the Niagara Falls Air Reserve Station – 914th Tactical Airlift Group as an Aircraft Propulsion Technician. He also served as a Base Equal Opportunity Employment Counselor and was a member of the Air Force Reserve Base Human Resource Development Council.

Over the years, Rev. Blue has been recognized for his leadership and community service. He received the Buffalo Citizenship Award and the Key to the City of Lackawanna from former Mayor Norman Polanski. Today, he serves as President and Founder of the SBC Foundation, President of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Buffalo and Vicinity, President of the Board of Directors of the Lackawanna Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Lackawanna Ministerial Alliance. He also serves on the Board of the Erie County Fair Housing Partnership and the Advisory Board of Hilbert College.

Previously, Rev. Blue held leadership roles as Second Vice President and Program Committee Chair of the Baptist Ministers’ Conference of Buffalo and Vicinity, Chairperson of the Community Action Organization’s Overall Policy Council for Head Start, and as a member of the CAO Board.

Academically, Rev. Blue earned his Associate Degree in Aerospace Technology in October 2001, another Associate Degree in June 2007, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry in June 2009 from the Rochester Center of Theological and Biblical Studies. He is currently pursuing a Master’s Degree at Andersonville Theological Seminary.

Rev. Blue married his wife, Angela, on July 14, 1984. Together, they are the proud parents of two sons: Robert, a graduate of the Rochester Institute of Technology, and Joseph, a graduate of Syracuse University. Rev. and Mrs. Blue firmly believe that their marriage has been both blessed and ordained by God.

As the devoted pastor of Second Baptist Church, Rev. Blue grounds his ministry in the power of prayer and the promise of Jesus in Matthew 6:33:

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

With God on our side, we cannot fail.
